Apparently women are suppose to be shoe mad. Not me. When I said I was going to buy some summer sandals my husband went "more shoes?" Here is my current collection.
The new hiking sandals for this summer. Last pair I had like this lasted about 3 years. Coast £19.99.
These are my worn out shoes for use around the house and garden. The black ones (cost £12) are a dreadful fit but handy on wet days to slip on to go to the dustbin! The trainers have lasted 2 years just about, with heavy winter use, cost £25 and have been good for gardening. But as soon as it is warm they are HOT and make my feet blister. Weird. The blue cotton/denim were very comfortable all last summer but the structure of plastic in the heels has collapsed. Cost £7.
MY brown boots were a charity shop purchase for £8 two years ago and have been worn a lot and scrub nice after I have splashed up the muddy lane from the bus stop. They are Clarkes. My hiking boots cost about £80, 5 years ago and are good for serious winter walking.
No other fancy shoes needed now I am not an office person and I had got rid or sent some to charity shops. Just kept this expensive pair from the last wedding 5 years ago cost about £60 and will have to match what ever I wear for formal occasions now. Unfortunately, I seem to have forgotten how to walk in them and the other night it felt really weird to be in heels! Only things I own is a pair of new wellies - £15. They don't get a lot of wear - if its that wet I try to stay indoors.
So, dear husband, in a rough calculation, my shoes/boots over the last few years has cost about £5 per month! Mind you, in the interests of frugality that does seem quite a lot of money? If we were on a tighter budget that might well be a problem. I shall reflect on that and check that I am taking care of the expensive ones and STOP wasting money on cheap and useless shoes!
